for the amount of laughter in our day. it's likely that a large percentage of the things we find humor in right now (referring to our cranky baby as "a real gritchard simmons," for example) would not be funny at all if we were getting more sleep, but at least we're enjoying ourselves. (even writing it makes me laugh: gritchard simmons! ha!)

for our thursday afternoons at the farmers' market. i love everything about them: the heaps of perfect, glowing produce we rarely buy (favoring, as we do, the baked goods and wine.) the toddlers who come up to pet the baby with their sticky, eager little hands ("i'm just checkin'," said one little boy to his mother today as he plopped down next to roo in the grass. "just checkin' this baby.") the hammered dulcimer music. the dogs. the weekly ritual of meeting friends we rarely see during the winter months. every single thing.

for audra, who's helping me to wean roo down to one night feeding. it's thankless work, going in to comfort an outraged baby insistent that he needs milk to get back to sleep, but she does it with a cooler head and with more compassion than i suspect i'd be able to muster on so little rest.
